Cinnamon + Cardamom Apple Oat Bars
These hearty cinnamon + cardamom apple oat bars are a super easy and scrumptious recipe to have on hand this fall. Whip up a batch and keep them around for when you need a snack that’s both filling and just a touch sweet. The combo of cardamom and cinnamon pairs exceptionally well with crisp fall apples and oats. All you need is about half an hour and a few simple ingredients and you’re on your way to a wholesome treat fresh from the oven.
Ingredients
- 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/4 cup whole wheat or all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup brown or coconut sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
- 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- Pinch of salt
- 2 cups apple peeled, very thinly sliced and chopped to about 1/2 inch
- sized pieces (2-3 medium sized apples)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup melted butter, melted
- California Olive Ranch Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375F
- Grease a 9by 13 inch baking pan with California Olive Ranch Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
- To a large mixing bowl, add dry ingredients of flour, sugar, oats, cinnamon, cardamom, baking powder and salt.
- Stir in sliced apples.
- Add in milk, apple cider vinegar, melted butter, maple syrup, eggs and vanilla.
- Mix ingredients until well combined.
- Pour batter into pan and spread in an even layer.
- Bake oat bars for 20-25 minutes until lightly golden brown and cooked through in the middle.
- Let fully cool before cutting into bars.
