Why is olive oil good for me?
Olive oil is among the foods that are high in monounsaturated fats. The Harvard School of Public Health notes “there is consistent evidence that higher intake” of monounsaturated fat “lowers the risk for heart disease.”

How long does olive oil last?
Our olive oils have a harvest date and ‘Best if Used By’ date printed on the back label in a green box. Opening the bottle exposes the oil to air that can degrade the oil quality. Use your olive oil within a few months of opening.
How do I keep olive oil fresh?
Store your oil away from light and heat, and use your olive oil within 30-60 days of opening the bottle. All California Olive Ranch oils are bottled in green glass to prevent exposure to light. Please refer to storing olive oil for more information.
What if my olive oil looks cloudy?
Sometimes in shipping, the oil is exposed to extreme cold, which clouds the oil. This is normal and will not impact the taste of the oil. If you notice ‘clouds’ in the bottom of your bottle, you are seeing small particles of the olive that are not removed during the milling process. This naturally occurs in fresh, high quality olive oil.
How should I store my oil?
We recommend storing your oil away from light and heat, and using your olive oil within a few months of opening the bottle. All California Olive Ranch oils are bottled in green glass to prevent exposure to light. Please refer to storing olive oil for more information.
Can I store my olive oil in the refrigerator or freezer?
We do not recommend storing your olive oil in the refrigerator or freezer. It does not extend the life of the olive oil and can make the oil cloudy. Refrigeration mellows the flavors of the olive oil.
How do I choose from the different olive oils?

Can I bake with olive oil?
Olive oil is a great substitute for butter when baking. Refer to our suggested substitution equivalents for olive oil.
Can I fry with olive oil?
Yes, the smoke point of good olive oil is high enough to fry food. Try it for a healthy alternative.
Are you certified?
All of our olive oils are certified as extra virgin by the California Olive Oil Council. We taste every batch of our oil as we make it to ensure that it adheres to our high standards.
What requirements are necessary for certification?
All oils must pass a series of chemistry tests and taste (organoleptic) tests to be certified as extra virgin. Our oils score much better than international standards for extra virgin olive oil. Our free fatty acid content is often less than .3%, much better than the international limit of .8%.
Are you organic?
At present time we are not organic, although we are testing organic production methods. We work very hard to employ sustainable production practices. Click here to learn more.

We are Orthodox Union kosher certified.
